What do you say when someone asks, “How can I pray for you?” How do you pray for others?
While many of us often have specific requests, sometimes we need a complete covering in prayer. Dr. Stanley preaches from Colossians 1:9-14, a passage that expresses all the reasons for prayer.
A person might need prayer so he or she might:
- be filled with the knowledge of God’s will.
- gain spiritual wisdom and understanding.
- walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.
- bear fruit in every good work.
- increase in the knowledge of God.
- be strengthened with all power.
- give thanks to the Father.
Dr. Stanley also explains that, if we truly want to change a life through prayer, we must keep our own hearts clean and free of sin and believe in God’s ability to affect the person’s life. We are not islands—our life and faith affect those around us, including those for whom we pray.
You have the capacity within you to impact somebody’s life by interceding on his or her behalf. Learn how to pray with purpose and live in a manner worthy of God. He will hear and answer you.
