How can I know it is God's voice I hear and not something else?

By Dr. Charles Stanley

The book of 1 Samuel describes how the boy Samuel came to hear and understand the spoken word of God. The Bible records that the word of the Lord was rare in those days; Samuel, therefore, had to learn how to recognize the voice of God and not get it mixed up with ideas that conflicted with the Lord's true character. I appreciate the simple-quality-truth of the Word of God presented by Dr. Charles Stanley in all the messages I personally read. To God be the glory. I keep in touch with your sermon. However, I would like Him (Dr. Stanley) if prophecy is still happened today? And if there is, Dose it work in this present age? Thank you and God bless your ministry.

Thank You so much for your wonderful and helpful information about how to make sure we are hearing G-d's voice and not bringing our own interpretation into it. it is challenging as we all have filters in which we take in information. And without knowledge of our filter flaws we can be mislead ourselves unintentionally.

God does speak to us through scripture, all Christians have experienced this whether we know it or not. Just last week I was reflecting upon my life and all the terrible things that I have done and I asked God "Lord, am I really forgiven all my sins", in a nano second a verse from the Bible came to my mind "Though your sin is like Scarlet, I will make them as white as snow". No doubt about it, that was GOD speaking to me directly from his holy scriptures affirming and comforting me that I was forgiven because of what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross. Praise GOD forever and ever Amen!
